Columbus track team finishes second in Sam Burley Hall of Fame MeetFrom Miami Herald Staff ReportsColumbus’ Armando del Valle broke the meet record in the 1,600 and 3,200, helping the Explorers to a second-place finish in the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Meet held at Southridge Park on Saturday. Del Valle posted a time of 4:13.70 in the 1,600, and he ran a 9:13.32 in the 3,200, beating both second-place finishers by 10 seconds. St. Thomas Aquinas won the boys’ meet with 120 points, while Columbus finished with 96. The Raiders also won the girls’ competition with a total of 106.5 points. South Dade was second with 71.50. Central High’s Jatavia Wright was named the top female athlete of the meet after winning the 100 hurdles in 14.90 seconds and placing second in the 300 hurdles.
